Our website presents some useful information to be able to better understand the meaning of the sunset.

Sunset is the time in the evening when the edge of the Sun’s disk disappears below the horizon in the west as a result of the Earth’s rotation.

Sunset should not be confused with the late evening time after sunset, which is called twilight, during which the light in the sky begins to disappear.

Since the refraction of light makes the Sun’s disk visible before its actual presence on the horizon, optically both sunrise and sunset are optical illusions.

The optical illusions of the Sun are very similar to those generated by the Moon.

The time of sunset, as well as the time of sunrise, depend on the length of the day and the proximity of the respective area to the sun.

Also, because of this position, these hours are observed differently everywhere.

At the same time, during winter and spring, the days are longer and the sunset takes place later.

Areas between the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle do not experience full sunrise or sunset on at least one day of the year when polar day or polar night persists continuously for 24 hours.

The sunset has a much brighter color than the sunrise, because the evening air has more particles than the morning air, the ash from volcanic eruptions helping in this sense
